Owyhee is an older English spelling for Hawaii. Many workers at the fort were from Hawaii, known then as the Sandwich Islands. Hawaiians were renowned for the skills in handling canoes and batteaux, and for being good swimmers, which helped save the lives of many Frenchman. A cross between an IPA and American style wheat ale, this delicious beer features an ocean of malt rolling in on waves of tropical fruit.
