The Siren of the Seas is a fickle creature: benevolent or spiteful, she can bestow a safe passage & a bountiful catch, or provoke storms & shipwrecks. Sailors have long cast gifts of flowers, food or trinkets into the sea in exchange for good fortune. Talisman – our delicately dry-hopped & golden-hued ale with its tropical & citrusy aroma – may be just the thing to encourage the Siren’s blessing.

The Dragon embodies those things we fear, wound up in a mass of greed & destruction, while the valiant knight is our protector, fated to save us from ruin. Our Guardian IPA – with the spicy character of a Wit & the hops of an IPA – is inspired by this legendary battle between good & evil. So if you have a dragon to slay, make the act more enjoyable with this bold & flavourful beer.

Amid bursts of confetti & music, the Juggler entertains us with a handful of oranges. As the oranges rise & fall, the planets revolve in the universe, babies are born, & the old pass on. Jongleur – our silky bodied, spicy & aromatic Wit – infuses any moment with a spark of joy. A glass of this bright & refreshing beer reminds us of the juggler’s simple lesson: to take pleasure in both the big & the small things in life.

With his insatiable appetite, the Wolf is guilty of devouring livestock & little old ladies, & is even thought to be able to swallow the sun. People of the old country observe strange rituals to appease his hunger, & never leave the house after dark for fear of being eaten. Maybe we’re not all superstitious, but it wouldn’t hurt to stay indoors with friends & share a glass of Nocturnum – our robust & balanced dark hoppy ale – brewed to keep evil at bay.

On the day the birds were created, the Peacock was bestowed with splendid plumage. Dissatisfied, he bagged for the sweet song of the Nightingale. Surely a beauty such as his deserved a voice to match? As penance for his vanity however, the Peacock was given a voice that would forever lament his lack of perfection. Sip of this juicy & hoppy sour ale, reflect upon your gifts & be happy.

Dispatched each day at dawn, Odin’s two ravens fly the world over, bringing news from the land of men back to the Norse god by nightfall. What secrets do they gather as they spy from on high, or scavenge from the leavings of men? Next time the black birds call outside your door, perhaps a glass of Blackmail milk stout – with its rich, round & slightly sweet character – will still their extortive tongues.

This is a classic German style Pilsner. Bright, clean, and fresh with a bracing and refreshing bitterness and the unmistakable herbal earthy character of the Noble Saaz hop. Crossing paths with a crone is believed unlucky by some. Stooped and toothless, she’s a frightful specter of mortality. Those who can meet her gaze and see wisdom there have nothing to fear; but beware to those who scorn or overlook her. As Mother of Creation, she can wield her power in wicked ways, by nightmare, illness or a failed harvest. So next time you happen upon an old woman, pour her a glass of this bright and refreshing beer, look her in the eye, and toast to her good health.

While a sour or tart beer might not be what you expect, it is something that can be a nice break from that which is expected. Our Roxanne Raspberry Sour Grisette starts with a quaffable table saison, which is then soured in the kettle, and then hammered with a few hundred pounds of black raspberries.

He was covered in fur from his head to his foot, the colour of midnight, the colour of soot. A bundle was squirming, slung over his back, & he looked like a thief, sneaking off with his sack. His eyes were like embers, glowing fierce in the night – I froze in the shadows to hide from his sight! A bundle of branches help tight in his fist, reminded me that this was no happy tryst. He had cloven hooved & a serpentine tail, my shameful behavior he was here to wassail. He was wickedly bad, an evil old devil, I cringed when I saw him, his whole being so dreadful. The glint in his eye & the nod of his head soon gave me to know I had plenty to dread.

This is our twist on a Gose, a traditional German sour and salty wheat beer style. It was brewed with a variety of botanicals often found in Gin, including Coriander, Juniper Berries, Black Limes and Grains of Paradise, giving it a distinct fruity, spicy and herbal character. A dry and slightly salty finish make this beer extremely refreshing and a perfect way to keep cool on a summer afternoon.

Seeing your Doppelgänger is considered to be bad luck, even a harbinger of impending death. Of course they could be your long-lost twin, or merely one who bears a strange resemblance to you. More likely however, they are your evil twin from a parallel universe & intend to hijack your life. Beware – If they don’t cast a shadow or appear reflected in a mirror, then you know you’re in trouble. This beer with its fruity, bright character will reveal treacherous intentions.

For centuries the Celts and other ancient people burned effigies made of wicker as sacrifice to the gods. These Wickermen represented a link between the spirt world and the world of men; fire drew the two together. Our Wicker man IPA might bring you one step closer to the world of sprits but it doesn’t really matter. Brewed with 4 killer Yakima hop varieties: Columbus, Ekuanot, Amarillo, and Simco it’s earthy, spicy, and fruity all at once. The bitter pithy finish is backed up by a soft sweet malt character

Our gold medal-winning traditional German-style Hefeweizen is essential sipping for long summer days. This beer is named El Jefe/The Boss after Iain who was one of the first to make a traditional Hefeweizen way back in 1995, long before anyone in Vancouver really knew what a Hefe-what was. He has continued to make it according to his original recipe ever since he was “gifted” the yeast culture from Germany’s Libinger Brewery. 20 years later, it’s pouring better than ever!

It begins with a tentative peep, followed by a bolder croak. Slowly, inspired by their intrepid leader the others join in, waking from their icy stupor. And so begins the spring chorus, a sure tell sign that old man winter is making way for the ever so lovely spring. Just as the frogs rise from the dead, we too emerge from the chill to delight in the sun. Should you need any motivation, a sip of this bright, hop forward beer that’s brewed like a lager but hopped like an IPA, is sure to put a spring in your step.

Beest is a West Coast style triple IPA. It's big, bold and packs a punch. It has been heavily dry hopped using Simcoe, Amarillo and Centennial. This combination of hops creates a dank, resinous and fruity aroma. Beest is brewed with a huge amount of grain bringing it to a whopping 9% alcohol. Up front flavours of ripe stone fruit and a bitter finish are rounded out with a sweetness to balance its high alcohol and big hop character. Don’t let the drinkability fool you, this Beest is dangerous. HOPS: Simcoe,Chinook, Centennial, Amarillo MALT: Pilsner malt YEAST: US-05 IBU: 90 OG: 1.095

We've been fans of Strange Fellows ever since we tried Poppin Jay in 2020. We would frequent the brewery, which offers both inside and outside seating. Recently the menu has been overhauled and if I had a say in it, I would at least put this place on the Michelin guide. The new menu is phenomenal, with very niche Asian inspired items, every choice is a culinary treat. The service remains friendly and welcoming. I love the etiquette guidelines posted in the brewery. The ambiance remains chill, yet warm and welcoming. Congratulations to the management team for truly elevating the experience. Well done.

A great Vancouver brewery. No matter what season you visit, they have a great selection of beer and food to enjoy. Merchandise of course rotates, but don't be afraid to ask for something. If you visit, be sure to try a flight of their beers!

I came for the Halloween season, and the haunted house, and I was surprised by how good it was! I love the atmosphere and how well the haunted house was made. Amazing!

Hands down the best brewery in Vancouver! Consistently has the best balance between mainstays and rotating taps, things you can explore and end new offerings to explore. Great vibe, decor and music always on point. They did a beer club called the "Fellowship" years ago that was amazing and included member perks and discounts. They really need to bring the fellowship back again in some capacity. Keep up the great work and always looking out for any new beers!

Not quite ready for dinner, it was time for a beer. Yelp brought me here and it was a nice stop. I found parking on the street in front as I didn't feel comfortable leaving the van on the side street out of sight. Inside, a calm vibe and I found a seat with a power outlet to charge up the phone and sit for a bit to write a Yelp review or two while sipping a couple of beers. A delicious beer this evening, the Beldame is a perfect German-style Pilsner. Crisp, clean, refreshing. A great beer after a full day of enjoying Vancouver from end to end and more to come.
